For those that subscribe to the newsletter and your season has just come to end. I hope you get to enjoy some much-deserved time off.

I am sure the ideas and things you want to do differently are already formulating in your head however.

Let’s get into it,

Digital and Content Marketing Agency, 8 Million Stories continue to be fantastic supporters of the newsletter.

If you are looking for support and assistance on paid digital advertising or want to make more of your data and analytics then I highly recommend getting in touch with 8MS. You won't regret it.

And I say this as a former client of theirs.

Running has never been as popular as it is now.

This is an interesting article from Lona Price Jones on why running has become popular, why brands are getting involved including examples of what they are up to.

Read more about why for a lot of people running is now about community and the sub-cultures around it.

No stranger to this newsletter, Sam Diss has written about collective effervescence on chanting, fandom, and the opposite of half-time light shows.

To give you a flavour of what to expect, I love this quote when talking from a fan perspective: “To bring unity and collective effervescence back to stadiums, clubs need to remember the story that they tell is not theirs, but ours.”

This is a great breakdown of why a lower-level, opposite field PGA Tour event took a completely different route in it’s approach to grab attention, especially when the main sponsor was the local tourism board.

This article really made me think as to where we are at and how the data and analytics has changed our culture.

It opens with an eye-opening image of how the game of basketball has changed. Well worth a read.

THIS WEST HAM UNDER-14s MIC’D UP TRAINING SESSION WITH EX-PLAYERS

I am not a West Ham fan and I have never had any sort of interest in Anton Ferdinand or Bobby Zamora, but I got absolutely sucked into this bit of content.

Mark Noble invited his former teammates to help take an U14s session. I found it a very interesting watch even as a neutral.

THIS WASHINGTON COMMANDERS SURPRISE FOR A FORMER PLAYER

Celebrating former players and club legends is important. Doing it well takes a lot of work.

Darrell Green is a Washington legend. He thought he was brought in to do some draft content. It turned out being far more.

THIS ANIMATED GRAPHIC FROM THE EFL

Remember that time, everyone was doing those animated bar graphs to show progress/how something had panned out? Hypnotising in their own right.

This from the EFL is a more polished version as they tell the story of the battle for the automatic promotion places in the Championship.

THIS USE OF THE PITCH FROM FULHAM

I have featured Fulham’s picnic on the pitch before but I still love the idea of it every year I see it.

Allowing fans to do something on the pitch at the end of the season, which is an extremely special place for supporters is very worthwhile.

This Twitter thread breaks down what happened off the back of the initiative.
